Mercia Case Management Ltd offers a cost effective, bespoke and client-centred service to survivors of acquired brain injury. Having worked in the field of case management since 2000 we believe that we have the experience to provide a professional goal led approach to addressing the challenges associated with this type of injury.
We work in partnership with the client, family and all professionals to develop an individual rehabilitation and care package that provides the client with a more socially enriched and independent life.
Although working outside of the medico legal framework Mercia Case Management Ltd are fully aware of the need for an open and honest relationship with all legal professionals involved in the case. Following referral we are able to provide initial assessments reports and, once instructed, work with each individual referrer to provide the type of continuing information you find most useful.
Each individual referred to the company will be allocated a bespoke case manager who is best suited to their needs and personality. We pride ourselves in having a mix of case managers and staff from various disciplines that together enable the team to discuss cases and provide solutions to client issues with a more holistic and multidisciplinary approach.
Mercia Case Management Ltd has experience in compiling Witness of Fact Statements and giving evidence in Court.
Mercia Case Management Ltd adheres to the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers (BABICM) standards of practise.
Carole is a qualified social worker and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She is an advanced member of the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers (BABICM). She is a member of the British Institute for Brain Injury Social Workers (BISWG) and attends the West Midlands regional meetings.
Carole has worked in the field of Acquired Brain Injury since 1995, from 2000 as a Brain Injury Case Manager. She established Mercia Case Management Ltd in 2008 and now employees a second full time case manager and part-time PA.
She has worked with adults, adolescents and young children with Acquired Brain Injury and currently manages a small case load as well as working in the Company Directors role.
Carole works closely with both statutory and private therapists, expert witnesses and solicitors. She has been involved in compiling Witness of Fact statements and has given evidence in Court.
Carole believes in working in a client centred way that encourages more socially enriched and independent lives.
Sarah joined Mercia Case Management in 2013 as a case manager.
She qualified as an occupational therapist in 1995 and has worked within a variety of acute and rehabilitation settings.
Sarah first started working as a case manager in 2004 for Rehab UK, a brain injury charity. She went on to develop her skills working with Irwin Mitchell Solicitors as their client liaison manager supporting serious injury clients and their families during the initial phases of the medico-legal process.
More recently Sarah returned to the NHS and was the clinical specialist occupational therapist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham responsible for occupational therapy provision to injured servicemen returning from Afghanistan with major trauma injuries including amputations, brain injuries and complex orthopaedic injuries.
Sarah was amongst a small team of individuals who were awarded “Woman of the year” in 2011 for work with injured servicemen. She also received a commendation for her dedication and commitment to her work providing an enhanced occupational therapy service to injured military personnel.
Sarah is registered with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT). She is also a member of the British Association of Brain Injury Case managers (BABICM).
Simon joined Mercia Case Management in 2017 as a case manager.
Since 1991 Simon has worked across a wide range of care and support settings before qualifying as a Social Worker in 2004.
Simon has specialised in working with adults with cognitive impairments developing his skills and experience in assessing many individuals and families and supporting them to establish and sustain often complex care and support arrangements. He has worked alongside a range of professionals co-ordinating their input to the benefit of those he supports.
In a recent break from his case manager role Simon led a Local Authority’s Assessed and Supported Year in Employment scheme for newly qualified Social Workers. As a qualified Practice Educator he continues to support student Social Workers.
Simon is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), a member of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) and also a member of the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers (BABICM).
Wendy joined Mercia Case Management as a Case Manager Assistant in April 2017.
Wendy has worked for the past 18 years in administration; secretarial, PA and Office Manager roles, mostly within the care sector. She worked for The Law Society for 3 years and her last role was as Chief Officer for a Charity that supported unpaid carers. Face to face and telephone contact was routine of each working day.
Wendy is a good listener, approachable and sympathetic to client’s needs. Being well organised and a good co-ordinator, Wendy aims to deliver to high standards.
With a Head Office situated on the outskirts of Worcester, Mercia Case Management Ltd has access to several motorway networks including M5, M6, M40 and M42 giving a wide geographical coverage. We are aware of the need to be available to our clients and adhering to cost effective support, we therefore limit ourselves to working within a two hour travel distance by car from Worcester.
We are able to access both East and West Midlands,Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and the M5 corridor.
